We would like to invite you to a seminar called Variety is the password! This seminar will focus on approaches to teaching based on principles from andragogy, Bloom’s taxonomy of learning, and Howard Gardner’s theory of Multiple Intelligences. It will be run as an interactive workshop with the use of handouts, games and PPT slides, in order to allow participants to experience the implementation of theory through class activities, even by using loop input tasks. Depending on the time available, these will then be developed into practical activities to be used in teaching English and/or other subjects.
Lecturer Anila Ruth Scott-Monkhouse teaches general English to both undergraduates and graduates at Parma University (Italy), and English for Specific and for Academic Purposes to professionals and graduates – among which the EFLIT course for lawyers and accountants.
Anila has a passion for lifelong learning and continuous improvement. Her interests lie in analyzing out-of-classroom needs of learners of English, and bridging the gap between the classroom and the real world through learner training and by applying Gardner’s theory of multiple intelligences in the field of language teaching.
Venue: Masaryk University Language Centre, Komenského nám. 2,
Time: Thursday 5. 10. 9-16, Friday 6. 10. 9-15.
Special program: The participants are welcome to join Anila for dinner or drink on Thursday (5.10.) night in order to discuss all ideas related to our interests in an informal way.
