Sections

The Conference will welcome submissions addressing general themes of Innovation, Research, Methodology and Best Practices that can be approached through the following sub-themes:

1. Innovation

This section can reflect upon innovating and transforming traditional course frameworks, teaching methods and assessment policies.
This section can be approached through, but is not limited to, the following subtopics:

  • innovation and pilot experiments in teaching LAP / LSP
  • innovations in academic writing
  • introducing alternative teaching methods, such as collaborative learning, autonomous learning, cross-cultural communication, creativity, critical thinking and other soft skills
  • new approaches to standardizing / personalizing language assessment and testing
  • ICT implementation
  • social media in language learning and teaching

 

2. Research

This section will consider contributions dealing with recent research on concepts of LAP/LSP and transferring and implementing research results into practice.
The section can be approached through, but is not limited to, the following subtopics:

  • research on testing and assessment
  • alternative teaching and learning methods
  • interdisciplinary approach to language
  • pragmatic issues in teaching LAP / LSP
  • further staff development and education

 

3. Methodology

This section presents current approaches, issues and transformations in methods of teaching and/or learning LAP/LSP.
The theme can be approached through, but is not limited to, the following subtopics:

  • alternative teaching methods (collaborative learning, autonomous learning, cross-cultural communication, creativity, critical thinking and other soft skills)
  • academic writing methodologies
  • testing and assessment methodologies
  • continuous professional development, further staff education and training
  • evaluation processes

 

4. Best practices

In this section, best practices in any of the following topics can be shared and explored:

  • University Language Centres – language policies implementation
  • University Language Centres – local, national and/or international networking strategies
  • management of university language centres
  • continuous professional development, soft and personal skills development
  • ways of collecting and implementing feedback material
  • quality management
  • any of the topics mentioned in the sections 1 – Innovations, 2 – Research and/or 3 – Methodology
