Goals

One of the main goals of the course is to contribute to the successful passing of entrance examinations to a university or other higher education institution. The course will facilitate your integration into Czech society and overcoming social, cultural, and language barriers. An individual approach to students and their needs is emphasised. The course will be completed by taking the final exam.

Concept and format

The course consists mainly of in-person classroom instruction, which forms the core of the learning process. This is where the essential language learning and communication practice take place through direct interaction with lecturers and fellow participants.

In addition to the main classroom sessions, the programme offers a range of bonus e-learning and leisure-time activities designed to enrich and complement the core course content. These additional components provide participants with extra opportunities for experiential learning and for engaging with the Czech language and culture in creative and practical ways.

The e-learning section, based on the principles of experiential pedagogy and andragogy, encourages active participation and the practical use of Czech in authentic contexts. It allows learners to connect classroom knowledge with real-life situations while exploring topics through literature, music, art, film, and other cultural media.

The overall programme is conceived as highly interactive, introducing participants to the city of Brno and Czech society in depth. While these topics are often included in standard language courses, traditional formats seldom allow such immersive and personal exploration. The experiential approach that underpins this course goes beyond a purely informative framework, enabling participants to develop a deeper and more personal understanding of Czech culture through direct experience.

The e-learning component consists of self-study days, during which no in-person classes are held. These activities serve as an additional enrichment to the main course, and their outcomes are regularly reviewed and discussed with lecturers during classroom sessions.
