Professional cooperation

The Masaryk University Language Centre (CJV MU) is an active member of CASALC (Czech and Slovak Association of Language Centres), a professional association bringing together leading language centres at higher education institutions in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. CASALC promotes cooperation among its members, supports the exchange of expertise and good practice, and contributes to the development of language education in higher education.

CJV MU has played a significant role in the leadership of the association. Dr Libor Štěpánek, Director of CJV MU, served as Chair of the CASALC Executive Committee from 2019 to 2023. Since 2023, the position has been held by Dr Blanka Pojslová, reflecting the Centre's continued commitment to the development of the association and its activities.

The Masaryk University Language Centre (CJV MU) is an active member of CercleS (European Confederation of Language Centres in Higher Education), a leading European network that brings together approximately 4OO language centres from more than 20 countries. CercleS promotes excellence and innovation in language education, fosters international cooperation, and supports the exchange of research, expertise, and good practice among higher education institutions.

The Director of CJV MU, Dr Libor Štěpánek, serves as Vice-President of CercleS, contributing to the strategic development of the organisation and representing the interests of language centres across Europe.

CJV MU academics also play a leading role in the work of CercleS by coordinating three international Focus Groups https://cercles.org/focus-groups/:

• Focus Group on Management and Leadership
• Focus Group on Autonomy
• Focus Group on Plurilingualism

These Focus Groups bring together experts from universities across Europe to share research, develop innovative educational approaches, and strengthen collaboration in key areas of language education. Through its active engagement in CercleS, CJV MU contributes to shaping European developments in language teaching and learning while strengthening its international partnerships and research activities.

The Masaryk University Language Centre (CJV MU) is an active member of EULETA (The European Legal English Teachers' Association), an international professional association bringing together teachers, researchers, and practitioners specialising in Legal English from Europe and beyond. EULETA promotes excellence in Legal English teaching, supports professional development, and facilitates the exchange of expertise and good practice.

Since 2026, Kateřina Chudová, a member of the CJV MU academic staff, has served as President of EULETA. In this role, she contributes to the strategic development of the association and promotes international cooperation in the field of Legal English education.
