Cancellation policy

Intensive Czech Courses for Foreigners

Online courses:

  1. The student as a consumer is entitled to withdraw from the contract without stating a reason within 14 days after the conclusion of the contract. If the contract is concluded later than 14 days before the start of the course, the student shall not be entitled to withdraw from the contract. The moment of payment for the order in the MUNI Shopping Centre is considered the moment of concluding the contract.
  2. Language Centre is entitled to cancel the course in case there are less than six applicants. In such case, Language Centre shall refund the entire price of the course fee, if paid before the cancellation, to the student´s bank account.

In-person courses:

  1. The student as a consumer is entitled to withdraw from the contract without stating a reason within 14 days after the conclusion of the contract. If the contract is concluded later than 14 days before the start of the course, the student shall not be entitled to withdraw from the contract. The moment of payment for the order in the MUNI Shopping Centre is considered the moment of concluding the contract.
  2. If the student does not receive a visa for in-person study of the intensive course of Czech by the start date of the course or if the student cannot participate in the course in person due to the anti-epidemic measures, s/he shall be obliged to take the course online, including the final examination. The student is allowed to join the in-person study during the course if the situation allows (the visa is granted or the anti-epidemic measures are lifted).
  3. If the anti-epidemic measures are lifted and the course is transferred to the originally announced in-person form:

    a) The student who does not have the visa is obliged to continue in the course online.

    b) The student who has the visa shall join the in-person classes.

  4. In case in-person instruction is not possible at the time of the beginning of the course due to current anti-epidemic measures of Czech government, the course shall be held online. In such case, the student shall join the online course and s/he shall not be refunded the course fee.
  5. If the student fails to actively participate in the course and his/her attendance is lower than 70 %, s/he will be sent can 2 notification e-mails. If s/he does not increase his/her attendance to the required 70 % even after being sent them, Language Centre shall have to report the fact to the Foreign Police.
  6. In case the epidemic gets worse and the competent authorities of the Czech republic order remote online instruction, Language Centre shall ensure a smooth transition from the in-person form to the online form of instruction. The transition to another form of instruction shall not constitute a reason for the refund of the course fee.
  7. Language Centre is entitled to cancel the course in case there are less than six applicants. In such case, Language Centre shall refund the entire price of the course fee, if paid before the cancellation, to the student´s bank account.

Summer schools 2021

  1. Masaryk University Language Centre can guarantee holding of the Summer school, not its in-person form due to the pandemic situation. The students interested in in-person study shall receive the final decision 2 weeks before the summer school starts.
  2. If the pandemic situation does not allow in-person study and the competent authorities of the Czech Republic order remote online instruction, the Language Centre shall organize the summer school in online form. The transition from in-person to online form of instruction shall not constitute a reason for the refund of the course fee.
  3. Students who apply for in-person form of summer school, become COVID-19 positive, and send us a proof thereof (PCR test result only) 2 weeks before the summer school in in-person form starts, shall receive a 90% refund.
  4. Full payment for the summer school is due 30 days before the start of the programme.
  5. No refund for cancellation within 30 days of the start of the programme is possible, except where proof of COVID-19 is given as mentioned above.
  6. If Masaryk University is required to cancel the summer school programme for any reason prior to the start of the programme, a full refund shall be provided.
  7. As per Czech law, if any student becomes COVID-19 positive, all students shall be put in quarantine. Masaryk University shall cover the cost for one COVID-19 test. If the quarantine exceeds the programme dates, MU shall help the student find accommodation. Please note that the costs of accommodation and meals after the end of the programme are the responsibility of the student.
  8. Students shall be required to purchase trip protection insurance that shall cover the cost of accommodation and change in travel plans if they become sick outside the duration of the programme.

Academic English Foundation Course

Online courses:

  1. If the student cancels his/her participation within 21 days before the start of the course, a refund of the course fee minus the cancellation fee of 10 % of the total paid amount shall be made by bank transfer to the student's account. 
  2. If the student fails to notify the Language Centre (hereinafter referred to as "LC") of cancelling the application by the start date of the course, he/she shall not be entitled to the refund of the course fee.  
  3. If the student fails to actively participate in the course and his/her attendance is lower than 60 %, he/she shall not be allowed to sit for the final examination and shall not receive the certificate of completion of the Academic English Foundation Course.
  4. If the course is cancelled by the LC, the student shall be refunded the full amount of the course fee by bank transfer to the student’s account.

 

In-person courses:

  1. If the student cancels his participation within 21 days before the start of the course, a refund of the course fee minus the cancellation fee of 10 % of the total paid amount shall be made by bank transfer to the student's account. 
  2. If the student does not receive a visa for in-person study of the Academic English Foundation Course by the start date of the course, the LC shall refund the course fee minus the administrative costs of 10 % of the total paid amount within 14 days after the submission of a proof of visa refusal issued by the relevant embassy.
  3. In case in-person instruction is not possible at the time of the beginning of the course due to current anti-epidemic measures of Czech government, the course shall be held online. In such case, visa shall not be necessary; students shall join the online course and they shall not be refunded the course fee. If the measures are lifted but the student fails to obtain the visa necessary for the in-person participation:
    a) the student shall continue in the course online
    b) the student shall terminate study in the course and the LC shall refund a proportionate part of the course fee minus the cancellation fee of EUR 500.
    The refund shall be made by bank transfer.    
  4. If the student fails to notify the LC of cancelling the application by the start date of the course, he/she shall not be entitled to the refund of the course fee.  
  5. If the student fails to actively participate in the course and his/her attendance is lower than 60 %, he/she shall not be allowed to sit for the final examination and shall not receive the certificate of completion of the Academic English Foundation Course.
  6. In case the epidemiological situation gets worse and the competent authorities order remote online instruction, the LC shall ensure a smooth transition from the in-person form to the online form of instruction. The transition to another form of instruction shall not constitute a reason for the refund of the course fee.  
  7. If the course is cancelled by the LC, the student shall be refunded the full amount of the course fee by bank transfer to the student’s account.
