About the Course

Master the art of securing Erasmus+ funding with our comprehensive hands-on staff week designed for academic and public sector professionals. Whether you're new to project management or looking to enhance your proposal-writing skills, this intensive programme will transform your approach!

Target audience

All level staff from academic or public sector institutions involved in project management.

Objective

To equip participants with the knowledge, skills, and tools necessary to design, write, and prepare competitive proposals for capacity-building projects in line with Erasmus+ program priorities and regulations.

Learning outcomes:

By the end of the week, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the key components of a capacity-building proposal.
  • Identify relevant funding opportunities and align proposals with program priorities.
  • Develop a problem statement, logical framework (logframe), Gantt Chart and budget.
  • Write and present a coherent and persuasive proposal.
  • Navigate the submission process including Tender and Funding System, needed documentation and compliance.

  • Please bring a laptop - it will be practical for the afternoons

Full Programme:

DAY 1: Introduction to Capacity Building & Proposal Writing

Morning (09:00–12:00):

  • Welcome and introductions
  • Course objectives and expectations
  • Overview: What is the Erasmus+ program? What is a capacity building project?
  • Key features of capacity-building projects
  • Introduction to proposal writing – structure, key components

 Afternoon (14:00–15:30):

  • Practical activities: Develop your own project – analysis of the call for proposals

DAY 2: Project Design & Problem Identification

Morning (09:00–12:00):

  • How to design a project: situation analysis, needs assessment
  • Defining objectives: SMART goals
  • Writing an effective problem statement
  • Stakeholder analysis

Afternoon (14:00–15:30):

  • Practical activities: Drafting a problem statement for a hypothetical or real project

DAY 3: Logical Framework & Work Plan Development

Morning (09:00–12:00):

  • Understanding the Logical Framework Approach (LFA)
  • Creating a logframe matrix: Objectives, indicators, means of verification, assumptions
  • Developing a work plan and timeline (Gantt Chart)

Afternoon (14:00–15:30):

  • Practical activities: Creating a logframe and Gantt chart in small groups

DAY 4: Budgeting, Monitoring & Evaluation, and E+ Program Alignment

Morning (09:00–12:00):

  • Building a project budget: categories, justification, sustainability
  • Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E): basic indicators and methods
  • Aligning proposals with E+ guidelines and strategies

Afternoon (14:00–15:30):

  • Hands-on: Drafting a simple budget and M&E framework

DAY 5: Writing, Packaging, and Presenting the Proposal

Morning (09:00–12:00):

  • Proposal sections
  • Writing techniques for clarity, coherence, and impact
  • Assembling the proposal package: narrative, annexes, forms
  • Common mistakes and how to avoid them

Afternoon (14:00–15:30):

  • Final group presentations of mock proposals
  • Peer and trainer feedback
  • Wrap-up, Q&A, certificate distribution

Certification

A) Certificate of Attendance
You need to attend a minimum 60% of the course to receive a Masaryk University Language Centre Certificate of Attendance.

B) Microcredential
Upon successful completion of a mock presentation, participants receive an internationally recognised microcredential.

Masaryk University Language Centre – the summer school venue

The programme will take place in the Masaryk University Building at Komenského náměstí 2, Brno, Czech Republic.

The Masaryk University Language Centre is based in the heart of Brno and the city’s cultural and social life is literally on its doorstep. Together with The Centre for International Cooperation, The Teiresias Support Centre for Students with Special Needs and The University Computer Centre with a non-stop service, the Language Centre is housed in a Neo-Renaissance building, opened originally for the German University of Technology in 1860. Today, the building offers state-of-the-art teaching and learning resources and facilities to Masaryk University students and staff-members.
