This is a practice-oriented two-day seminar designed to support those delivering degree programmes to international groups through the medium of English. The seminar consists of a mixture of presentations, small group work, and discussions. It aims to enable participants to experience and reflect upon a range of communicative techniques that they might then apply in their own classrooms to support the needs of their students. The main aims of the course to equip participants with some practical strategies of effective communication with students in and outside of class.
Lecturer: Daniel Gerrard, B.A., M.A.
Daniel Gerrard teaches academic writing and communication skills at the Faculties of Education, Informatics and Medicine. Since 2009 he has taught English for general, academic and professional purposes at universities and businesses in the UK, Germany and the Czech Republic. His main academic interest is in language testing and assesssment, and prior to joining Masaryk University he worked on the development of computer-based English language tests at Oxford University Press.
